General Duck & Geese Information

Geese are unique in every way. They are deferent then chickens, turkeys, peafowl, and most poultry. Most geese are domestic farm birds that cannot fly. A male goose is called a gander, a female goose is called a goose.

Most geese lay 20 eggs a year, and other can lay up to 40 or even 60 depending on the breed. Ducks can lay 20 eggs to 360 eggs a year, depending on the breed. There are many types of breeds and colors to choose from. Geese and ducks can keep your lawn cut each day.

Geese and ducks need some kind of water resource to drink and play in. A kiddy pool will work will. They also require a shelter.

Both ducks and geese eat, insects, worms, fruit, grains, snails, table scraps and many other foods. Geese and ducks have a well developed gizzard (A gizzard is a small part of the stomach that grinds up food with tiny stones it has in there gizzard.

Pekin Duck

The pekin was developed for meat and egg producing. Pekin ducks need to be incubated artificially, since a pekin duck will not sit. The bill, legs, feet are a dark orange, and the body is a creamy white, to a pure white.
